We are contemplatives and missionaries of the Trinitarian love of God revealed in Christ.

The Daughters of Holy Mary of the Heart of Jesus are a Religious Congregation of Pontifical right that was born into the Church on the 8th of September, 1998, originally proceeding from another Religious Congregation, “Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart”.

The Constitutions as well as the Directory impel us to have an intimate union with the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. All our life should be centered on the Eucharist to offer reparation for a sinful world which wounds God, rejecting His Love.

Our Foundress, Mother María de Jesús Velarde (1925-2021)

She wrote our Norm of Life and our Spirituality in the Constitutions which distinguish us as Daughters of Holy Mary of the Heart of Jesus. These were approved by the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life on the day of the Nativity of Our Lord, December 25, 1998.

The current General Superior of our Institute is Rev. Mother María Marta Simón. She was elected during our Fourth General Chapter in November 2017.

There are six communities there, among which is found the Motherhouse.

We seek to make the Sacred Heart of Jesus loved everywhere through stable apostolic works, principally schools, for the education of children and youth with the purpose of regenerating society according to evangelical values.

We wear the image of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart as a distinctive sign of our consecration as her Daughters.

We pray for the Holy Father, bishops and priests so that their hearts will be a reflection of the priestly Heart of Christ.

“Through the religious profession we embrace the three evangelical counsels with a public vow, committing to live them out personally and as a community according to the Constitutions.” (Constitutions, 24)

“Like all the baptized, we are called to holiness. But we, furthermore, by the election of God, consecrate ourselves to Him professing the evangelical counsels, which are a divine gift that the Church received from the Lord, and which, with His grace, is conserved perpetually.” (Directory, 12)
